Training for Teachers New to Phonics

We know getting your head around teaching a new area of the curriculum can be daunting. But we promise phonics lessons can be fun and easy to teach (and we’re not just saying that because we’re a phonics programme!).

We have a lot of short videos tackling different elements. To help you get started with confidence, we have identified six core training videos that we recommend you watch before heading over to the Intervention Training Zone to watch these short videos too.

If you find those interesting, you will find more to explore under them! We recommend you bookmark this page in your browser, because it is best to listen to the contents over more than one session.

Phonics Jargon

Phonics is full of terminology which can seem confusing at first but is really straightforward once you get your head around it!

If there is any terminology that you are unsure of, we recommend you take a look through our Phonics Jargon videos before getting started with the core training videos.
